Stevie The Manager
Firstly, Steve (STANGR The Man aka. Stevie The Manager) Gwillim was born with both parents in the military in Burnaby, BC Canada. His mom left at 2. He wasn’t in the best financial situation. He played sports like box lacrosse, field lacrosse and soccer. And excelled at them. He attended elementary school there until Grade 7 and then moved to Abbotsford, BC for high school.

He fell in love with rap culture because it paired up with him good. Like, for one, winning a poetry competition in grade 4. Also he had to live with his buddy in high school because of conflicts with his step mom. But he made it work and got out of it in a piece.

His journey as a rap artist is a testament to the indomitable human spirit, as he rose above the shadows of his past. In those formative years, he found himself confined within the walls of psych wards and group homes, battling the depths of depression. The weight of his struggle was further amplified by the haunting presence of voices and hallucinations that threatened to consume him.

But he refused to succumb to despair. With unwavering determination, he embarked on a relentless quest for healing and self-discovery. Seeking solace in therapy and support networks, he confronted his inner demons head-on, refusing to let them define his identity.

Emerging from the depths of darkness, he emerged as a beacon of resilience and inspiration and he beat it. Today, as a rap artist, his lyrics carry the weight of his experiences, shedding light on mental health struggles and offering solace to those who may be fighting similar battles. His music serves as a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit, a reminder that even in the face of adversity, there is hope and the possibility of triumph.

His first 2 albums, Intensify Thought 1 & 2, were the genre “experimental” trying to mesh pop / motivation rap with trap. He learned a lot. There is much more to come though. Hopefully you like his style and sound. He has said, “I’m ready to take the mic to a new level.”

The Best Mainstream Underground Trap Songs Dominating Playlists in 2026

Underground Trap music has always thrived on innovation, and some of the most influential songs in hip-hop today are coming from artists who have successfully bridged the gap between underground credibility and mainstream popularity. While major chart hits continue to attract millions of listeners, a growing number of trap artists are building dedicated fan bases through unique sounds, experimental production, and authentic street-inspired storytelling.

One of the biggest trends in modern hip-hop is the rise of artists who first gained traction online before breaking into the broader music scene. Platforms like Spotify, TikTok, YouTube, and SoundCloud have helped create a new generation of trap stars who don’t necessarily follow the traditional path to success. Instead, they develop loyal communities of listeners who help push their music into the mainstream.

Artists such as Yeat, Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, Young Nudy, Key Glock, Lucki, and Night Lovell have become major names among trap fans. Their music combines hard-hitting 808s, atmospheric production, catchy flows, and creative experimentation that separates them from more conventional rap releases. Songs like “Money So Big,” “Yale,” “if looks could kill,” and “Russian Cream” continue to attract listeners looking for something fresh while maintaining the energy that made trap music popular in the first place.

The underground trap scene is also known for constantly evolving. New sounds emerge every year as artists experiment with melodic elements, darker production styles, electronic influences, and genre-blending approaches. This willingness to push creative boundaries has helped underground trap remain one of the most exciting areas of hip-hop culture.

Another reason these artists continue to grow is their strong connection with fans. Many underground trap artists interact directly with their audiences through social media, live streams, and independent releases. This creates a sense of authenticity that many listeners appreciate. Rather than relying solely on major marketing campaigns, these artists often build momentum through word of mouth, playlist placements, and dedicated fan support.

For listeners looking to discover new music, mainstream underground trap offers the perfect balance between accessibility and originality. The songs are polished enough to compete with major releases while still retaining the creativity and individuality often associated with underground music. Whether you’re a longtime trap fan or someone exploring the genre for the first time, there has never been a better time to dive into the world of underground trap.

As the genre continues to evolve throughout 2026, expect more rising artists to emerge and challenge traditional expectations of what trap music can sound like. The underground remains one of the most important driving forces behind hip-hop’s growth, and today’s hidden gems could easily become tomorrow’s biggest stars.

The influence of underground trap extends far beyond streaming numbers. Many of the production techniques, vocal styles, and trends heard throughout today’s hip-hop landscape often originate from artists experimenting outside the mainstream spotlight. As new talent continues to emerge, underground trap remains a proving ground where creativity can flourish without the limitations of commercial expectations.

For music fans, following the underground scene offers an opportunity to discover artists before they achieve widespread recognition. Many of today’s biggest names first gained momentum through independent releases, underground playlists, and dedicated online communities. The next breakout star could already be building a loyal fanbase through a handful of tracks circulating across streaming platforms and social media.

Whether you enjoy dark trap, melodic trap, rage-inspired production, street anthems, or futuristic sounds, the underground scene offers something for every listener. The diversity within the genre continues to expand as artists blend influences from hip-hop, electronic music, rock, and beyond to create unique listening experiences.

As the year progresses, expect even more underground trap releases to make waves throughout the music industry. New collaborations, viral hits, and emerging artists are constantly reshaping the genre and introducing fresh perspectives to hip-hop fans around the world.
