The Legendary Game Of Canada Is In Vancouver
That’s right it’s lacrosse I am talking about. Both field and box might I add. One of the funnest sports I have played flourishes here in Vancouver. We do have the Warriors and the NLL but that is the icing on the cake. There is the New Westminster Salmonbellies of the WLA that were founded in 1888. Also there is the Victoria Shamrocks that were founded in 1950. Also there is the Burnaby Lakers, my home town.
It doesn’t get the respect it deserves. But with a packed up line up of sports in North America I can see why.
Also New West and Burnaby both go all out in hardwood floors for the season. It’s the way it should be played, not on turf. NLL take notice.
Steve’s name is also on one of the trophies. He was the youngest goalie ever to be named goaltender of the year for the Burnaby Lakers minor lacrosse club. He set it by 2 years. He was also the ball boy for the Sr. A Lakers.
He played player for the outside / field lacrosse versions as well and excelled at it playing attack.
This is the sport of the future I believe. Just give it some time and then it will be put into the light.
